Color Management

QColor Service

For some time now, the market has become much more demanding and, for better or worse, this trend does not appear likely to reverse. Customers need reliability, and companies must increase quality control throughout their production processes. This significant and clearly visible reality in the Graphic Arts Industry requires us to work in accordance with internationally recognised ISO standards in order to operate with confidence and expertise.

At Digipress, we offer a fast, controlled and efficient colour management control service: QColor.

QCOLOR

What is QColor?

The QColor service consists of an annual subscription that provides advanced consultancy tailored to your specific situation, together with a detailed report showing how your processes compare with international colour standards.

What are the most common colour management problems?

  • Different printing suppliers produce different results.
  • There are no objective colour control criteria.
  • Incorrect expectations differ from the final results.
  • It is extremely difficult to reproduce a job consistently.
  • The final result received is not what was expected.
  • Images are damaged due to poor quality control.
  • Errors occur because jobs are carried out without international or corporate standards.
  • There is no colour guide or clearly defined tolerance range.

QColor provides Industry 4.0 solutions for colour management in the Graphic Arts Industry. QColor delivers improvement initiatives that support the digitalisation of colour.

Colour management is one of the main challenges faced by technical professionals in the graphic arts sector. Controlling colour throughout the entire graphic production chain is essential for delivering professional and efficient work in accordance with ISO standards, while also meeting the end customer’s quality-control requirements.

Our consultancy services:

Excellence in colour measurement

In addition to ensuring colour validation for CMYK inks and spot colours, simultaneous measurement in M1, M2, M3 and M4 modes, and enhanced colourimetric functionality, we provide innovative tools for evaluating ink and paper before, during and after print production. This helps save time and reduce waste throughout your operation.

Advanced quality-control management

  • We provide tools for evaluating paper and ink, including paper indices, metamerism, colour strength, opacity and dE trends.
  • We measure ink and paper before, during and after print production to help optimise efficiency.
  • We analyse the substrate using the gloss index function.

Advanced colourimetric capabilities

  • We bring confidence to the workflow of every project, as the tools used within QColor can be locked, customised and individually configured with multiple user capabilities.
  • We offer a wide range of aperture sizes, providing the flexibility required as your business needs evolve.
  • We accurately measure the spectral reflectance of a substrate or ink.
  • We measure the concentration of a specific ink using absolute and relative colour-strength functions.
  • We use the opacity function to measure the difference of a substrate or ink over white and black backgrounds.
  • We calculate colour differences under up to three different illuminants using the metamerism function.
  • We improve the matching of a specific colour standard by adjusting the ink directly on the press.
  • We work with all ISO conditions and meet all our customers’ requirements, including G7, PSO, ISO and Japan Color.
