The Epson SureColor SC-P8500 large format (44-inch) plotter has been specifically designed to offer high-volume photographic production for both daily tasks and specialized photography, canvas, or enlargement products; it also provides signage services such as photographic prints, posters, point-of-sale signage, as well as Décor Art or rigid poster boards.
The SureColor SC-P8500 printer features the new UltraChromePRO6 aqueous-based pigment ink set, 6 colors with gray, which provides a wide color gamut with smooth gradations and less grain, available in 110, 350, and 700 ml capacity cartridges, and 1.6 liters for the SC-P6500L and SC-P8500L model printers.
This new range of Epson photographic production printers has been designed primarily with functionality and a small footprint in mind; it is provided as a machine that is fully operable from the front, with a flat back that allows it to be placed against a wall. With an innovative and compact single-piece design, the SC-P8500 printer requires no assembly, and its setup from unboxing to printing takes less than 30 minutes.
PrecisionCore technology is built to last the entire lifespan of the SureColor SC-P8500 printer; it is not a consumable. The Epson PrecisionCore printhead is precise, accurate, and consistent.
The printhead offers high-resolution print quality of up to 2400 dpi and allows for precise control of ink droplets, with variable droplet sizes starting at 3.5 picoliters, ensuring exceptional clarity and sharpness.
The printhead is equipped with Nozzle Verification Technology (NVT), which automatically detects the condition of the nozzle and initiates the cleaning procedure. The ink-repellent coating reduces the possibility of nozzle clogging.
Quality, precision, and extreme print speed in this large-format machine with an innovative and compact design that features an optional dual-roll feed for greater production, preventing the need to change paper types based on printing requirements and reducing finishing time.
Media handling is cutting-edge: roll loading is performed automatically, there is no need to manually feed the paper, and it allows for automatic switching between rolls, loading two different types or sizes of paper simultaneously with quick switching. Roll selection is handled in the SC-P8500 printer driver and job configuration settings.
The variety of media that this plotter can print on is very wide; it can print directly onto rigid material up to 1.5 mm thick, such as cardstock, coated aluminum, or other thick media, requiring no finishing, which reduces labor costs for rigid signage. Printing is instant-dry, ready to use, and durable.
Some production improvement features include: Borderless printing on all four sides of the image without the need for user trimming, high-productivity roll-to-roll printing, included take-up reel mode (Roll 1 can be used as a take-up reel, winding the print side in or out, with three levels of adjustable winding tension)... Less user intervention is required, and no additional accessories are needed for collection.
The printer configuration allows for identifying the roll used with an ID and tracking the remaining meters of material on the spool.
